CHRNCLS Integra "Hyper REV Vol. 77" 16x20 Poster
Every year around this time, I find something to needlessly obsess over while I’m in Japan. I have a good amount of downtime when I’m just at Exceed while the guys are working so I can dedicate an unusual amount of time to. Last year it was Tokyo Xtreme Racer on Steam which was super fun, but I felt an (pun intended) extreme amount of guilt from just sitting around melting my brain playing games. So this year, I decided to be more productive with my time…
I really wanted to increase my brain activity and hone a skill, just to further build discipline and remain sharp. It was going to be fun of course, to a certain degree so it wouldn’t feel like work. I really liked making the “Hyper REV” themed Civic poster I created for the pop-up and it was so well-received that I knew I wanted to make another. People have been telling me I don’t do enough Integra stuff so I decided I’d make an Integra version of the poster. I wanted to use some DC2 builds that have been impactful to The Chronicles or to me personally and I ended-up with so many Integras that I made four different versions. Some you’ll recognize immediately and some a bit more obscure…
I tried to include as many little details as possible to make them identifiable and some had different stages so I picked the variation that people would identify the most. I spent an unnecessary amount of hours on these using Adobe Illustrator and it’s been both rewarding as it has been frustrating. Over the past year I’ve been trying to figure Illustrator out and the learning curve is incredibly steep. The feeling of satisfaction once I take a step back to look at the finished product offers an unprecedented sense of nerdy-euphoria. The Mugen M7 I am particularly geeked-out over as well as how I was able to flip it into the +Sure MD7. I most certainly could have spent many more hours on each of these but I also have to eat, sleep and breathe outside air. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did making them…
